The lamp’s djinn, DJ, offers three wishes. Dusty uses the first two to survive. While he and DJ try to figure out what comes next, they’re visited by Anya Oyoke, an oni agent from the Wish Allocation Regulation Division of the Bureau of Mundane-Fae Relations. Anya arrives to investigate the unauthorized wish activity, but her interest in Dusty—and her attraction to both him and DJ—quickly complicates matters.
Undeterred, Dusty makes a choice no previous holder has dared: he wishes for DJ’s freedom.
That decision puts all three of them on the wrong side of a hidden magical bureaucracy determined to catalog, bind, and control every supernatural being it can find.
