One month remains on the contract. Then an unknown contact appears.

Commander Jonah Mercer flies an interceptor for the civilian escort corvette Guardian. Under Captain Amira Rao’s command, they have one job: protect the colony ark Theophany through the dangerous midpoint passage of its journey to a new world.

More than six thousand colonists sleep aboard Theophany, along with embryos, genetic archives, seed banks, industrial fabricators, landers, habitats, and everything humanity needs to build a self-sustaining settlement.
